Lincoln Parish Credit Recovery Grant Program

The Credit Recovery / Remediation Program in Lincoln Parish includes a 0-Hour from 6:50 – 7:40 A.M. and Twilight School from 3:30 – 5:00 P.M., Monday through Thursday for Ruston High School students only, and Saturday School from 8:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. which is open to any Lincoln Parish high school student.  Dubach High School also offers Twilight School from 3:30 – 5:00 P.M. for its students.  If space is available and scheduling permits, students are also offered the opportunity to attend Credit Recovery labs during the school day.

Students must provide their own transportation to 0-Hour and Saturday School.  However, students enrolled in Twilight School at Ruston High School have transportation available if needed.  A bus picks up students at RHS at 5:00 P.M., Monday - Thursday and lets them off at four pre-arranged drop-off spots.  If a student wants to ride the bus after Twilight School, he/she and his/her parent/guardian must complete and sign a Twilight School/Transportation Contract.

Any student who wants to take part in the Credit Recovery / Remediation Program must first make an appointment with his/her counselor for an application and transportation contract (if needed).  This application stipulates the course to be recovered/remediated and the chosen time.  An additional component of the program will be a four week Extended School during the month of June.

The Program makes use of a variety of approaches to meet the needs of a wide variety of students.  Lab monitors, faculty tutors, and peer tutors work with students using several statistically proven programs including  A+LS, Carnegie Learning Algebra I, and the Buckle Down series.  Students recovering a Carnegie unit must also take an end of course final that has been submitted and approved by the DOE.

Approximately fifty students are currently enrolled in the program with twenty-five peer tutors and twenty faculty tutors/lab monitors.  Twenty-two of these students are taking advantage of the transportation available.
