Smart Bodies

This year Ruston Elementary has adopted a school program called Smart Bodies, which is educating our students and our staff to be more conscience of daily activities by working within the classroom and within us!  We are extremely excited to be able to experience the “Body Walk”, the “Take 10”, and learn through” The Organ Wise Guys”!   To see more on the Smart Bodies program and our school activities visit www.smartbodies.org.

Congratulations to the RES Cross-Country Team!

The 2009-2010 Ruston Elementary Cross Country team had a great run this year.  The teams participated in six cross country meets and had finishers among the top ten in each one.  The 5th grade boys' teams who ran alongside 6th grade boys dominated the scene with two first place trophies and one second place trophy.  Trame Hargrove and     D-Marques Harris finished in the top ten at the state championship, and Jonathan Streets finished among the top twenty-five.  Aaron Austin, Alexius Austin, Kearia Wright and Ke'Nyja Hayes all finished among the top twenty five at the state championship in the third and fourth grade division races.

All cross country team participants demonstrated growth and improvement in their performances throughout the season.  The Cross Country team would like to thank our supporters, specifically:  The Ruston Elementary PTC for our shirts; Principal Harris for cheering us on and making it possible for us to participate in all of our meets; Mrs. Breed, Mrs. Ferrell, Mrs. Loyd and Mrs. Jane Watson for all of your help and encouragement on the scene and behind the scenes; and all of our parents for their commitment, support and helping hands.  Thank all of you, for it truly does take a village and we appreciate your citizenship!
