Ruston Elementary is extremely blessed to have received new computers in the computer lab this year. Students K-5th will have a weekly opportunity to work on Reading and Math- based skills by their grade level, through a Parish-adopted website called Kids College. This site has been used by the children in previous years, but has now received an upgrade of its own. Kids College will promote progress by offering goal progress, also known as “learning through sports”. Games have been added to their rewards as they reach these goals. Kids College has added “Browseallowed” to their learning site, which will allow the student to simply roll their curser over the words, and Browseallowed will read the text. As always, your children will also be able to access this site from home by keying in their Login Code to www.kclogin.com. Students may request these passwords from the computer lab teacher. We are recycling old ink cartridges and cell phones. Greenschoolproject.com will recycle and pay us for these items. Old ink cartridges can earn our school up to $5.00 each! There is a recycling box kept in the computer lab near the office. Box-tops are now being collected individually, and by classes. Each student to turn in a completed box-top sheet will receive a free “jean-Friday” pass, as well as a free concession pass. Jeans will be worn with RES spirit shirts, uniform belts and shoes, and a pass must be presented on the Friday the jeans are worn. A class count will also be kept, which will be tallied at the end of the year for an ICE-CREAM Party! Be sure to write your teacher’s name on all sheets or plastic bags turned in, in order to receive credit for your classroom. Box-tops can be turned into teachers or Computer Lab. Important Links:
